Retreat to Geilo
The whole Centre spent three days together at Geilo, Norway, to present science, discuss strategies and build new collaborations. The program included workshops, poster presentations and pitching, panel- and round table discussions, and project presentations from young scientists and associated PIs. New and experienced skiers could also try the tracks and slopes of Geilo. (Top page photo)

Visiting Professor
Dr. Aaron Newman from Stanford University visited PRIMA for one week in August. Dr. Newman’s research integrates computational and experimental approaches to investigate the cellular organization of complex tissues, with a particular focus on developing innovative data‑science tools that reveal the cellular hierarchies and stromal components driving tumor initiation, progression, and therapeutic response. During his visit, Dr. Newman delivered lectures, provided supervision, and engaged in scientific discussions with researchers both within PRIMA and across the wider scientific community in Oslo.

Breakfast meetings
Our monthly Breakfast Meetings serve as the main gathering point for the Centre, and in 2025 we held nine sessions. Responsibility for the program rotates among the research groups and features a combination of external guest speakers and fundamental science presentations delivered by Centre staff.

Open seminar
In collaboration with PRIMA’s user representatives and their associated patient organizations, we hosted a public seminar titled “Tomorrow’s Precision Immunotherapy for Blood Cancer” at the Radium Hospital. The seminar aimed to share insights into our ongoing research and the development of new immunotherapies targeting blood and lymphatic cancers with patients and the general public. To ensure broad accessibility, the event was also offered digitally, allowing participants to join remotely.

School visit

Biology students from Akademiet Realfagsgymnas Sandvika was on a “field” trip to Olweus’ lab to learn more about biotechnology. They were introduced to basic principles for gene editing and how these methods can be used to create new strategies for cancer therapies.
